Stroke is the leading cause of long-term disability in the United States, with spousal partners often filling a significant role as caregivers after loved ones return home. Care-partners often experience increased burden and depression in this new role, and there is a significant need for improved education, services, and resources for these care-partners. This project describes the development of the GETCare program, which is a group education and training program for care-partners post-stroke.

Learning Objectives:

• Upon completion, participants will be able to describe an effective approach in developing an education and training program, relevant to their preferred target population.
• Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the GETCare program for care-partners post-stroke, including an overview of topics covered and the general format of weekly care-partner training sessions.
• Upon completion, participants will be able to describe results from the needs assessment and feedback from stakeholders guiding the development of the GETCare program.
