There are family member-related barriers and facilitators to achieving optional rehabilitation outcome among stroke survivors with spatial neglect. We will present a qualitative study in which physical and occupational therapists participated through focus groups, and discuss how family involvement in inpatient rehabilitation may facilitate or impede delivery of treatment. We will also discuss how we may reduce the barriers and help family members engage in rehabilitation effectively.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the clinical significance of spatial neglect.
Upon completion, participant will be able to summarize family-related barriers and facilitators to stroke rehabilitation among individuals with spatial neglect.
Upon completion, participant will be able to discuss how to improve family training by taking deficits related to spatial neglect into account.
