Dr. Bhatt's talk witll focus on perturbation-based fall prevention training in healthy, aging and neurological populations. She will also discuss translation of training to real-life contexts. Lastly, advances in commercial devices and practice protocols derived from the growing evidence-base in this field will be presented. Louis DePasquale's talk will focus on the RIPPs (repeated incremental predictable perturbation) Balance method. His talk will focus on his work towards translating such approach to the community of geriatric rehab clinicians. He will also compare and contrast the RIPPs method with other existing stance reactive balance assessment and training paradigms.

• Identify the theoretical framework and principles underlying perturbation-based training for fall-risk reduction
• Relate current evidence re: neuromechanics of perturbation induced balance loss and strategies employed to avoid, resist or recover from it to your current clinical practice in balance training and rehab.
• Describe 3 advantages and 3 limitations of perturbation-based intervention over conventional balance training approaches.
• Compare assessment of and behaviors in response to numerous types of perturbations and discuss implications of this for fall risk reduction interventions.
• Describe a clinical perturbation method employing repeated incremental predictable perturbations for fall risk identification and intervention in active older adults
