Robotic gait technology use has increased in neurorehabilitation. Now evidence supports use in rehabilitation of spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury and cerebral palsy (CP). Many centers are utilizing advanced stationary technology to increase precision practice and reduce the work of over the ground treadmill training. Large comparison trials studying conventional physiotherapy versus robotic training are ongoing.
This symposium explores and contrasts international centers that deploy robotic gait training, primarily for CP and discusses common outcome measures, protocols and an international network that has created a data repository for research. Finally, we look to the future, exploring new mobile robotic options.
