The purpose of this symposium is to provide a review of advanced surgical options for extremity lymphedema and includes a comprehensive literature review of patient selection, surgical outcomes and advantages/disadvantages of each procedure. The role of rehabilitation for pre- and post-operative management and quality of life of this patient population will be reviewed. Finally, a series of case studies will be presented to illustrate the take home points of the symposium.

Learning Objectives:

• Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to demonstrate understanding of vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT), lymphaticovenous bypass (LVB) and suction-assisted protein lipectomy (SAPL).
• Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to describe patient selection and expected outcomes of VLNT, LVB, and SAPL.
• Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to compare and contrast each surgical procedure in terms of approach, intent and complications.
• Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to describe pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitative management and activity restrictions of VLNT, LVB and SAPL.
• Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to evaluate the quality of life implications for the different surgical procedures and outcomes as illustrated through case presentations.
