While limb loss does not recognize socioeconomic status, limb loss rehabilitation is dependent upon resources available.
Limb loss rehabilitation spans the continuum from surgery to preprosthetic rehabilitation, prosthetic prescription, prosthetic rehabilitation and subsequent community participation at the prosthetic level. An argument can be made to modify limb loss rehabilitation practiced in the developed world to adapt to the developing world based upon context-specific social, economic, policy and functionality-related factors.
The aim of this symposium is to explore these factors in a few different settings across the world including India and Argentina, review current efforts, and envision a feasible rehabilitation paradigm.
