Dr. Rachel Proffitt is Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Missouri. Dr. Proffitt received her OTD from Washington University School of Medicine and focused her research on customized gaming applications for stroke rehabilitation. In Los Angeles, Dr. Proffitt was adjunct faculty in the Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of Southern California and a Clinical Research Scientist at Blue Marble Game Company. In order to further her rehabilitation research skills, Dr. Proffitt completed a T32 postdoctoral fellowship with Drs. Skip Rizzo and Belinda Lange at the Institute for Creative Technologies at USC. Dr. Proffitt joined faculty at the University of Missouri in 2016 and has focused her research on testing the efficacy of VR-based approaches for rehabilitation with a specific focus on the chronic stroke population.
