Dr. Nithman graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Health Sciences, received his Master of Physical Therapy from Duquesne University, was conferred his post-professional Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Chatham University, and recently earned his PhD from Nova Southeastern University. Nithman became a Diplomat of the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties upon receiving Board Certification as a Geriatric Clinical Specialist in 2006 and was recertified in 2016. Drawing from his experiences in business start-up, interprofessional practice management, consulting, formal post-professional education, and 20+ years of clinical experience across the healthcare continuum, Dr. Nithman’s instructional focus is on healthcare policyand economics, geriatric rehabilitation, interprofessional collaboration, reimbursement, utilization and practice management. Nithman’s expertise in Prospective Payment System, in-home assessment and reimbursement procedures are exemplified by his Certification as an Outcome and Assessment Information Set Specialist for 14 years. Nithman has authored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts, and has presented 18 scientific presentations at national conferences over the past 10 years including the Gerontological Society of America's Annual Conference and multiple conferences sponsored by the American Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Nithman has eclectic research interests including publications and professional presentations on telerehabilitation, interprofessional rehabilitation and prognostic tools, risk and strategic planning with business entity selection, high-fidelity simulation, technology in homecare, case management in prospective payment systems, predictive validity of admissions interviews, critical thinking and debate-style learning, fall prevention in the elderly. Dr. Nithman is active in the American Physical Therapy Association, Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, and American Council of Academic Physical Therapy’s National Inter-Professional Education Consortium, and serves as a consultant for multiple organizations and provides legal consulting as an expert witness.
