Shan-Pin (Aka, Shanpin) Fanchiang, PhD, OTR/L, is an education coordinator for occupational therapy, education specialist, clinical consultant for movement disorders, and lead for hospital-wide initiatives Telehealth Workgroup and traumatic brain injury research initiative. She is the founder/chair of the Rancho Medical Consumer Health Information Program, an intranet-based program for patient education mainly focusing on health promotion to prevent complications for people with physical disabilities and chronic illness. She has implemented a field-testing process to gain feedback from patients and estimate actionable knowledge for patient education materials as a way to address challenges of limited health literacy. Her research interest includes measuring what people do, knowledge translation, and mHealth.
She is an active member of the Rancho Continuing Medical Education (CME)/ Graduate Medical Education Committee, Diabetes Health and Wellness Committee, Cultural Diversity Operation Council, Telehealth Workgroup, and Occupational Therapy Management Council. Representing allied health professionals and Rancho, she serves on the DHS Endocrinology Workgroup and functions as a collaborator and education specialist for CME activities with the LAC Department of Public Health CME activities and ECHO West monthly webinar with the L.A. Care Plan CME programs.
