Dr. Chen is Professor and Associate Program Director of Occupational Therapy of School of Occupational Therapy, Denton Campus, Texas Woman’s University. Her research has focused on measuring disability and functional outcomes, development of functional assessments (the Manual Ability Measure, MAM), and application of psychometric theories on functional assessments. More recently, she has expanded her research interest to more general practice-related issues, including: OT intervention to increase self-sufficiency in the homeless population, Interprofessional education, compassion fatigue among OTs, as well as clinical reasoning. She served as a member of the Clinical Core Member of the PCORI-funded Project: Better Rehab through Better Characterization of Treatments. Dr. Chen enjoys mentoring graduate students and junior faculty. She has served on the editorial boards of several journals including Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Topics for Stroke Rehab, American Jounral of Occupational Therapy.
