Disclosure: Nothing to Disclose
This highly interactive and case-based session will explore appropriate ethical responses to conflicts among providers, individuals served, and families or loved ones of individuals served. We will begin with a brief ethical analysis of the concepts of person-centered planning and the dignity of risk, then move on to argue through a series of case studies designed to elicit consensus around specific ethical concepts that can be applied to resolve disputes regarding the balance of autonomy and risk. This session will use cases of interest to providers working both in long term care and ID/DD services.
