During this session we will describe our experience of creating a PICC program covering operative and critical care patients within a large academic pediatric institution. This program has advanced skill development across varied practitioner populations and divisions with the goal of developing a sustainable and adaptable program embracing the four “rights” of vascular access and capable of providing care across different practice settings. Structured implementation with measurable outcomes allowed for assessment of training impact with iterative modification to processes over time. The session will describe the details of our training program, metrics used to assess the success of the program and challenges that were specific to the development of this multidisciplinary PICC program.
