Advanced insertion techniques (with videos) are provided for detailed instructions that can help the Vascular Access Specialist initiate USG PIV insertion. Seven major steps are outlined from assessment to insertion to education, including patient assessment, biomechanics, vein identification, creating insertion plan, finding the needle tip, advancing the needle to the vein and advancing the catheter into the vein. Lessons learned from the instructor's 4 years of teaching this class will be provided, as well as practical tips and guidelines to setting up a new USG PIV program.
