Nothing to Disclose
This session will focus on patients with long-term or lifelong central venous access needs, such as TPN or hemodialysis. As a consequence of vein wall irritation, damage, stenosis, infection and/or thrombosis, conventional access will be lost over the years. Advanced and risky techniques will then become necessary to restore central access, on which the patient's life depends on. Techniques such as femoral, transhepatic, translumbar and sharp venous recanalization will be presented using a case-based approach. This image-rich presentation will help attendees understand the principles and practice of advanced venous access and recanalizations, its pros and cons, and when to refer a patient who exhausted conventional access.
