New data shows that tunneling upper arm PICCs reduces BSI. This course will show how the bedside nurse can create the same distance between the skin insertion site and the vein insertion site "Using the Whole Needle" as a physician using the "Tunneling Technique." The difference the bedside nurse uses no additional equipment, no addition venopuncture, no incision and no tunneling device. Simpler, easier, with less trauma to the tissue and every one can do it!!!

Learning Objectives:

• Learn the difference between the " surgical tunneling technique" and using the whole needle to use achieve the same augmented distance between skin insertion site and vein insertion site.
• Demystify "tunneling" PICCs in the upper arm and answer the question who can use this technique
• Learn how to use current venous access skills in a different way to decrease the risk of BSI for your patient
