Association for Vascular Access
Use of ultrasound is an essential part of vascular access procedures and appropriate infection prevention and control practice is the responsibility of all involved in the process. Given the rapidly increasing use of ultrasound and the many regulations, standards, and best practice guidelines that exist, ensuring that vascular access professionals have access to information and guidance is part of AVA’s mission. This session will review current FDA regulations, accreditation standards, AAMI standards, and CDC guidelines that provide the basis for AVA’s guidance document currently under revisions. Attendees will have opportunity to provide feedback and share questions that are fundamental to development of the final document.
