(O2) Active Bacteremia and Central Venous Catheter- a Discussion Concerning Indicators for Catheter Removal/non-removal

Despite the common use of peripheral vascular catheters, there is still controversy over the incidence, clinical relevance and treatment for bloodstream infections related to these devices, and the measures that can be taken to prevent them. We will be looking specifically on the prevalence of bacteremia on patient with peripheral vascular access device.

Learning Objectives:

• Upon completion, participants will be able to describe acceptable standards of practice in managing patient with active Bacteremia in relation to the presence of Central Venous Catheter.
• Upon completion, participants will be able to assess the effectiveness of Central Venous Catheter removal in patient with active Bacteremia.
• Upon completion, participants will be able to understand the effects of antimicrobial stewardship against Bacteremia.
