PEDISIG is proud to offer this session not only to its PEDISIG members, but any vascular access practitioner who wants to learn the necessary steps in pioneering a new practice safely. The consequences of unsafe implementation will be explored with the help of two well-known legal nurse consultants who will introduce legal nurse consulting as an adjunct career option for the advanced practitioner. An introduction to levels of data that can be used to support change will be presented and examples of using data and best practices will be examined in the context of case examples (pediatric and adult) to demonstrate how best to protect your practice. Sign up for this session to hear how the legal nurse consultant examined the case presented at the 2018 AVA Scientific Meeting that caused an infant’s death because of a mal-positioned PICC. A panel discussion will give attendees the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discuss with our panelists about pioneering new procedures, safe implementation practices, data as a support tool, and legal consequences.
