In this "TEDTalk" style presentation, I will provide information one needs to know before venturing into the "dark side of industry". I will give a brief description of my journey from being a bedside clinician/inserter to a clinical educator for a medical device company. Qualifications for the position will be discussed. The role of the clinical educator will be defined. The advantages and disadvantages of leaving the bedside will be revealed. Then through a series of questions I will ask the audience to visualize themselves on the dark side. For those who are interested in next steps, I will help them formulate a plan to transition from vascular access inserter to clinical educator/Industry partner.

• Understand the qualifications and experience needed to become a clinical educator in the vascular access industry.
• Define the advantages and disadvantages of leaving direct patient care to become a clinical educator for medical device sales.
