The delivery of best-practice rehabilitation services for individuals following stroke requires knowledge of factors that influence stroke recovery and the timely translation of evidence-based interventions to clinical practice. This presentation aims to bridge the gap between published research and current practice. Through the use of a theory-based approach and case scenarios, we will facilitate participant knowledge of factors that contribute to the recovery of function after stroke.
Describe empirical evidence regarding predictors of functional outcomes poststroke and factors impacting treatment planning and choice of intervention frame of reference.
Apply a theory-based approach to specify treatment ingredients (what the clinician provides) and the impact on client outcomes and goal achievement.
Apply a theory-based systematic approach to evaluate and select best-practice interventions for the paretic upper extremity after stroke.
