Parks Canada has a mandate to ensure that Canada’s designated heritage places are protected and presented for this and future generations. The Framework for History and Commemoration contributes to delivering on this mandate and presents an opportunity for the Agency to adopt approaches that are at the forefront of public history. It is Parks Canada’s vision for heritage presentation and commemoration.
As a new vision for Canada’s heritage places, Parks Canada’s Framework for History and Commemoration establishes principles that are the basis of the Agency’s approach to history. It provides strategic priorities for continuing to establish places, persons and events of national historic significance to encompass the breadth of Canadian history.
