Dr. Emily Vogtmann is an Earl Stadtman Investigator in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics at the National Cancer Institute. She has training in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and Epidemiology from Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her PhD dissertation focused on cruciferous vegetable intake, GST gene polymorphisms, and colorectal cancer among men in Shanghai, China, completed in collaboration with the Shanghai Cancer Institute and Vanderbilt Medical Center. Dr. Vogtmann joined the National Cancer Institute as a post-doctoral fellow and now as an investigator where she conducts research focusing on the human microbiota and cancer risk. Dr. Vogtmann has also spent significant effort in evaluating methods for collecting, handling, and analyzing microbial data in order to apply these methods to her studies of cancer risk.
