Susan Lessick, AHIP, FMLA, is a Librarian Emerita from the University of California, Irvine, where she served in various management roles during her nearly 30-year tenure, including heading the Grunigen Medical Library and copyright education planning at the UC Office of the President. She has an M.L.S. from UC Berkeley, an M.A. from the History Department at UCLA, and a B.A. from San Jose State University. She serves as co-editor of the Virtual Projects Section of the Journal of the Medical Library Association. She is the project director of the MLA Research Training Institute that is funded by a three-year grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). This unique institute equips librarians with skills to produce health information research that supports quality health care and library practice. Her interests include librarian-led health information research, research education, library assessment, evidence-based practice, emerging technologies in libraries, and copyright and fair use in higher education and research.
