David Petersen, MSLIS, MA, AHIP, is currently Research & Learning Services Librarian at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine/University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Before this, he served as Health Sciences Librarian at Florida Gulf Coast University and Lincoln Memorial University, and Library Assistant at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. He is chair elect of the Medical Library Education Caucus of MLA, serves as a member of the Credentialing Committee, and is past president of the Knoxville Area Health Sciences Library Consortium. David earned his MSLIS from Florida State University and an MA in History from the University of Kentucky; he also holds Senior level membership in AHIP. He is the author of two peer-reviewed articles, several book reviews, and has presented papers and posters at regional and national conferences. His research interests include: information outreach, liaison librarian roles, and hospital libraries. He and his wife have a one year old son who keeps them busy; in his spare time, he enjoys hiking and collecting antiquarian children’s books.
