Roelinda Jongstra is a Ph.D. student from the Human Nutrition Laboratory led by Prof. Michael Zimmerman at the ETH Zürich, Switzerland. Her research focuses on the bioavailability of micronutrients from biofortified staple crops. During her Ph.D., she established an RCT looking at the effectiveness of zinc-biofortified rice consumption on plasma zinc status in young Bangladeshi children and conducted a bioavailability study with iron-biofortified orange-fleshed sweetpotato in Malawian women. She holds a Bsc. in Dietetics and a double MSc. in Nutritional Physiology and Epidemiology/Public Health from Wageningen University, Netherlands. Roelinda will finish her Ph.D. trajectory in the spring next year and is looking for career opportunities where she can continue integrating agriculture, nutrition, health, and sustainability.
