Senior Nutritionist
MoH of Uganda
Holds a Bachelors of Education and Master of Science in Food Science and Technology from Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. A Senior Nutritionist at the Ministry of Health, Uganda overseeing the development and implementation policy guidelines, regulations, standards, strategies and plans related to micronutrients, anaemia and food safety. Has promoted the national, regional and global Food and Nutrition sector at policy, curriculum development, capacity building, implementation and research levels.
Ministry of Health focal person for the Uganda Multisectoral Nutrition and Food Security Project, Current chairperson of the national working group on the development of standards for Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses, Secretary for the National Working Group on Food Fortification,
Involved in the design and implementation of health and nutrition related formative, operational and implementation science research activities such as the Uganda Demographic health surveys; Integration of biomarkers into population surveys such as the Uganda Panel Survey; Birth defects surveillance; Monitoring the consumption of fortified foods using the FACTS survey; Food consumption and initiating the rolling out of the FortyMs for the monitoring compliance to food fortification standards and regulations.
Affiliated to research publications in the area of Understanding the process of strengthening multi-sectoral efforts for anaemia reduction; micronutrient survey biomarkers and the integration of home fortification with Micronutrient powders into Infant and Young Child Feeding.
Has made a number of food and nutrition related oral and poster presentation at national, regional and international level. Has a passion for small scale farming and culinary experimentation.
