I have a Bachelor in Sociology and a Master’s in Government and Politics in Latin America from the University of Essex, England, and a Master's in Urban and Regional Development Planning from the Catholic University of Chile. As an expert in Food and Nutrition Security, I have held management positions at the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP) since 1982 in Guatemala and Nicaragua. I have also carried out consultancies for different international cooperation agencies in several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
With more than 38 years of experience in policy analysis, planning, monitoring, and evaluation of food and nutrition security programs and projects, I am the author or co-author of more than 17 specialized publications. I currently work in INCAP's Nutrition and Micronutrients Unit and I am the Director of the country's Health and Nutrition Epidemiological Surveillance System (SIVESNU).
