Masresha Tessema is Public health nutritionist and researcher with Ethiopian Public Health Institute, Addis Ababa. He has over 10 years experience in Nutrition, and food security. Currently, he is Director of Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate, Ethiopian Public Health Institute. He received an M.Sc in Applied human nutrition from Hawassa, Ethiopia and a Ph.D in Public health nutrition from Wageningen University and Research, Wageningen, the Netherlands. His research activities include the dietary diversity, micronutrient deficiency, protein-energy intake, linear growth failure management, biofortification impact measurement, aflatoxin exposure, diet-related non-communicate disease, and linkage of nutrition-health and climate change in developing countries.
Previously he was the coordinator of national nutrition research directorate, Ethiopian Public Health Institute. He coordinated the national nutrition research, monitoring and evaluation committee. Further, he coordinated various national surveys and studies in Ethiopia such as the National micronutrients survey, National nutrition survey, and National operational researches surveys survey in Ethiopia. He has over 20 research publications in a peer-reviewed journal. Recently, He is the chair of the National COVID-19 Research and Technology Transfer Steering Committee.
