HOMERO MARTINEZ is a clinical pediatrician with a Ph.D. in International Nutrition, currently working as Senior Technical Advisor at Nutrition International (NI) in Ottawa, Canada. Homero leads the Folate Task Team, a multidisciplinary task force to support a global strategy for the control of folate insufficiency and reduce the risk of neural tube defects (anencephaly and spina bifida), and collaborates on a number of NI’s initiatives related to technical assistance in nutrition in low- and middle-income countries, building partnerships, and institutional strengthening. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed articles, 54 book chapters, edited 12 books, and has over 3,400 citations to his work. Homero is an active member of the American Society for Nutrition, the Mexican National Academy of Medicine, and the Mexican Academy of Pediatrics.
