Dr. Sabiha Sultana is a Technical Specialist, Knowledge Leadership in GAIN Bangladesh. She is working at GAIN since July 2016. She is the focal person for all the research, evaluation, and knowledge management products for all the projects carried out at GAIN Bangladesh. Considering Bangladesh projects, her area of involvement is mainly on Large Scale Food Fortification (oil, salt, and rice) and Value Chain, Maternal and Child Nutrition, Adolescent Nutrition, Workforce Nutrition, and SUN Business Network. She also co-led the adolescent program in Bangladesh. Before joining GAIN, she worked three years as Project Coordinator of the National Food Security Nutritional Surveillance Project (FSNSP) funded by the EU (later funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) at James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University. During her stay, she coordinated several projects funded by FAO, UNICEF, BRAC; Lentil fortification Research with the University of Saskatchewan, Canada; and worked as a Teaching Fellow at the MPH program.
She completed her MPhil in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Dhaka in collaboration with the University of Oslo, Norway, with a NOMA scholarship. She earned her MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College and started her career as Resident Medical Officer in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Apollo Hospitals, Dhaka. After post-graduation, she was appointed as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences and worked there for two years.
