Mr. James Muwonge is the Director, Professional Services and Project Management directorate at the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS). He is leading a team that is mandated with professionalizing the statistical cadre in Uganda through capacity development initiatives. He is also charged with providing technical and professional support in survey design and implementation to both government and non-government institutions and Agencies.
Prior to joining the Professional services directorate, James was responsible for the design, coordination and supervision of nationwide income and expenditure surveys and a host of other surveys and has extensive experience in conducting household and institution based surveys. For almost 20 years, James has been instrumental in designing and monitoring the implementation of the long term census and surveys programme at the Bureau. He has authored/co-authored papers in the areas of poverty, health and nutrition.
He holds a Bachelors of Statistics degree from Makerere University and a Master degree in Economics of Development from the Institute of Social Studies at The Hague, Netherlands
