Track: Sponsored Sessions
This sponsored symposium will describe the preliminary results of effectiveness studies evaluating the use of 3-D technology to measure child height/length, mid-upper arm circumference and head circumference. Field staff in nutrition surveys and surveillance systems in Guatemala, Kenya and China collected anthropometry data on children <5 years comparing 3-D technology to expert manual anthropometry, including data on acceptability, precision and accuracy. Presentations will describe the background, results of prior efficacy studies, and effectiveness results. It will also include brief comments from survey/surveillance system leads in the 3 countries to describe their experiences and reflections on the use of 3D technology to measure anthropometry in young children.
