There is a consistent and continued shift on the part of the international community toward transforming the whole food system for better nutrition and health within environmental limits. Traditionally the Dutch government has strongly supported partnering between academia, private sector, civil society and government in a multi-sectorial approach, the Dutch Diamond approach, addressing the entire food system. Examples of these partnerships are the SDG Partnership facility, the CGIAR partnership, Amsterdam Initiative on Malnutrition, and the Netherlands Working Group on Nutrition. These partnerships require an open mindset where new roles and responsibilities are developed that go beyond comfort zones and personal interests. A learning attitude is required, as these partnerships are a continuous learning process.
